Collaboration (2007)

Collaboration embraced pre-existing features - a short anomalous length of PVC pipe protruding from the floor and the ceiling joists within a gallery - to operate in a site-specific mode. Linking the installation with features of the building created an environment whose boundary became indistinct in an allusion to the overlap and interference of exchanges within actual ecologies. This overlap is exemplified by society and nature’s sharing of water, an aspect highlighted in Collaboration by creating a system from PVC pipes and poplar tree trunks to emphasise their common function as artificial and natural conduits respectively.

PVC pipe, poplar tree. Site-specific installation.
