Adjusted Habitats (sharing place) is one of a suite of artworks made in response to observation I see in my home.
Over time I have become aware of other animals living in my home, making their own homes amongst my possessions. Frequently these creatures are very small – insects or spiders – and they occupy gaps either inside the structure of the actual house or within pieces of furniture. Repurposing existing items – for instance furniture – to make an environment where a person and animal can use the same object speaks of resource sharing, and modifying an item that disrupts our use relates to making sacrifices to accommodate other creatures.
